The SCV is a patriotic, historical, educational, fraternal, benevolent,
non-political, non-racial, non-sectarian, non-profit organization dedicated
to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.
Our purpose is embodied in the Charge to the Sons of Confederate
Veterans given to us by the old veterans, themselves, in the person of Lt.
General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander General of the United Confederate
Veterans, in 1906:
"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."
If you are a descendant of a Confederate veteran, and if you believe that the defense of your Confederate ancestor’s good name and the preservation of our Southern history and heritage is important to you, we invite you to join our ranks.
